No more hyperventilation but relaxation

I am jumping for joy. This morning I went for the first time to the care facility where I fill in the gaps in the schedule. Before, I didn’t sleep the night before. I woke up bathed in sweat and now I had slept perfectly. No sweaty states, no panic, no hype, I experienced only peace.

It is almost impossible to put into words how incredibly happy I am that I can do what I want to do again. Doing the things that my heart is in and that make me happy!

After my workday, I biked to Zutphen to sit on a terrace and drink a delicious iced coffee at my leisure. Sofull of enjoyment!

I am super proud of myself!

Everything back in control with the Del Ferro breathing technique

With the Del Ferro breathing technique , I have gotten my hyperventilation well under control! When I start to hyperventilate slightly, I have it under control after about 8 breaths! And that is so nice!

I even went to my old elementary school’s reunion and it went super! There I just stood in the crowd and felt comfortable. No flight tendency. I could really enjoy it. I’m starting to get prouder and prouder, you know, because it’s really improving.

Last December, I still didn’t dare walk to the front door walk, nor did I have the energy for it. I didn’t dare drive a car or go to a store.

Then when I see what I can and dare do now! Tonight after dinner I played volleyball with the children in the garden volleyball in the garden and in a moment I will take the dog for a walk. Everything under control!

I chose Del Ferro because they have a practical approach. When I go to my doctor with hyperventilation, I am told it has to do with anxiety. When I start googling I end up with all kinds of vague trainings that promise all kinds of things but are not based on anything. All nice and well, but I had been walking around with pressure in my chest for more than 3 years and ‘fear’ is a very vague concept for me, with which I couldn’t do much.

I got hyperventilation, because I almost ran into burnout. I think I was just so stressed that my body started breathing so cramped, so it became automatic and I couldn ‘t unlearn it.

What I liked about the Del Ferro training is that the method is scientifically proven. Videos and images were used to explain what goes wrong in the body when I hyperventilate. Understanding this bodily process was so enlightening, that I immediately understood that hyperventilation is fixable and that I could do something about it myself.

The most important part of the course was mastering a breathing repetition technique that I had to perform consistently and correctly, so that I learned to relax the diaphragm. But this was easier said than done, especially with my stubborn personality. I came up with excuses for myself like: it won ‘t work out, I don’t have time, it won ‘t work out anyway.

It was nice that the breathing specialist quietly took the time to look at my breathing, saw through out all my excuses and gave me super specific tips, which made me finally get it under control!

I can take better care of myself in this stressful society

Already after the first training, I noticed that I get an immediate and active influence on hyperventilation.

That stuffy, sweaty, anxious feeling in my body with palpitations, I could now control and even prevent through the breathing exercises.

During the training, I realized and felt that I can “control” my breath. By applying the right breathing technique, it immediately distracts attention from unpleasant feelings, gives me peace and relaxation and then the feeling that I can handle things better.

Because I want so badly to never hyperventilate again, I not only pay better attention to my breathing, but I pay better attention to myself anyway. It ‘s a trade-off: more grip on my breathing and more grip on what I care about to take better care of myself in this stressful society

I feel way more confident

I no longer have that anxious feeling all day and I feel way more confident. Last weeks at school were quite tough, but I got through them well. That gave me an awful lot of energy.

Last Friday I chose to do the final presentations (which I’m normally terrified of) and somehow I felt so strong that it went really well for me. I had to give this presentation in a dark wine cellar where I had to convince 10 great entrepreneurs of my concept. And I did it!!! I got the highest grade out of 43 people. So that hassle of not being able to present or be in front of the class is finally over too.

In addition, I cycle for half an hour almost every day without arriving at my destination completely out of breath. Moreover, I even go to the gym 1 or 2 times a week again.

I am no longer stuffy and have not needed medication since the breathing training. At work I am doing super well, because I talk much calmer now and I don’t feel like I’ m choking anymore. I feel much more confident now. Also, I finally sleep great now.

I am so happy! I don’t know what is happening to me. It is really wonderful to experience air and space.

Next Saturday I will get back on my horse after more than six months. How incredibly much I am looking forward to that. This afternoon, for the first time, I went shopping alone again. Quietly and without sweating or panicking.

I am so happy. I have air and that is soooooooo wonderful. That’ s putting it mildly , because now I have my life back. Now the tears flow, pure happiness.
